Wisdom tooth surgeries can be quite the extensive treatment. In fact, it can result in a long recovery time. So, it’s important to not take this treatment lightly. If your teen is about to undergo this treatment, it’s important to do all you can to prepare. Our dentist, Dr. Purvesh Malaviya, is happy to help you do so.

The first thing you need to do is follow the instructions your dentist gave you prior to the surgery. This should include and eating and drinking instructions. Typically, it’s not recommended to eat or drink anything at least six hours prior to surgery. This is because the sedation might make your teen nauseous.

The second thing you need to do is make sure your child has a safe ride to and from their appointment. This means they should not drive themselves. After the appointment, the sedative will still have an effect on your teen, so they will not be able to drive.

The third thing you need to do is make sure your teen wears loose-fitting and comfortable clothes to their appointment. This will help them feel more at home during treatment. It’s also recommended to remove all jewelry and contact lenses before treatment begins.
